First Lady Patricia Calhoun

Sister Patricia Ann (Dancer) Calhoun is the third child (of five children) born to Sylvester Sr. and Ludie Bell Dancer. Born in Odessa, Texas, she attended elementary, middle and high school in Odessa. After graduation in May 1971, sister Patricia enrolled in Odessa College (OC). She attended OC for about a year and a half and decided to take her life in another direction. She began working as a teacher’s aide and did so successfully until one day a young Airman from Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas visited her fair city. It was July 1975 when that Airman entered her life. In August 1976, Patricia and Willie Calhoun were married at Parks Memorial COGIC (Parks Refuge COGIC at the time). Patricia left her home and family in Odessa and became a military spouse.
Patricia has been married to her loving husband for 42 years (Pastor Willie Calhoun) and is the mother of seven daughters. Prior to becoming a Pastor’s wife, Patricia served faithfully in her local churches in Abilene, Texas, Tacoma, Washington, Vogelweh, Germany, Norfolk, Virginia, San Angelo, Texas, Mesquite, Texas, Austin, Texas and
finally in San Antonio, Texas. Arriving at Anderson Temple Church of God in Christ (now Dominion COGIC) in 1992, Sis Calhoun served as adult choir president for a season, president of the Young Women’s Christian Council (YWCC), and as local Purity class Pres. On the District level, she currently serves as the president of the Purity class.
Sister Patricia has demonstrated leadership in many capacities. She has been often asked to speak to the young women of the churches in the district on topics of dress, appearance, conduct becoming a young woman, and healthy eating.
Although not licensed as a missionary, she has taken on the position as First Lady of Courageous Faith Church of God In Christ like a champion. She is often our 5th Sunday women’s speaker, she is asked to speak at various events in the district because of her knowledge, calm demeanor, and spirit filled life. She has served as First lady of Courageous Faith, San Antonio, Texas since November 2015.
